Thypoch M Mount Positive Lock Adapter M-Z

Q: Does the Thypoch Positive Lock Adapter support electronic contacts?

No. The adapter does not support electronic communication between the Leica M lens and the Nikon Z-mount camera. All focusing and aperture adjustment must be done manually. This design maximises reliability and keeps the adapter lightweight and mechanically robust.

Q: What makes the Thypoch adapter different from a standard M-to-Z adapter?

The Positive Lock Adapter uses a dual-lock system similar to those found on cinema cameras, providing a much tighter and more secure fit. This feature prevents minor shifts that can occur during focus pulls, especially when using heavier manual lenses. It's well-suited to precise still or video work.

Q: Can I use the adapter with rangefinder-coupled lenses?

Yes, the adapter is fully mechanical and supports any standard Leica M-mount lens, including rangefinder-coupled models. However, the rangefinder coupling will not function; focusing must be done using live view or the EVF.

Q: Is the handle removable or optional?

Yes. The adapter ships with a detachable handle that can be repositioned to suit your camera layout. You can also replace it with a flat anti-slip module if preferred. All parts are included in the kit, along with screws and a screwdriver.
