Question 1

What types of photography is the Tamron 17-70mm f2.8 suited to?

Accepted Answer

The 17-70mm focal length range allows the lens to cover a wide variety of subjects. Wide-angle settings are well suited to landscapes, travel photography, architecture, and street photography, while longer focal lengths provide a natural perspective for portraits and everyday subjects. Many photographers choose it as their primary lens because it can comfortably remain mounted throughout the day as shooting requirements change.

Question 2

Is the Tamron 17-70mm f2.8 suitable for video recording?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The lens incorporates several features that support video capture, including a constant f2.8 aperture, VC stabilisation, quiet RXD autofocus, and suppressed focus breathing. Together, these features help maintain consistent framing and stable footage while reducing distractions during recording.

Question 3

What is the full-frame equivalent of the Tamron 17-70mm f2.8?

Accepted Answer

When mounted on a Fujifilm X APS-C camera, the Tamron 17-70mm f2.8 provides a field of view equivalent to approximately 25.5-105mm on a full-frame camera. This range covers wide-angle, standard, and short-telephoto perspectives, allowing the lens to handle everything from landscapes and travel photography to portraits and everyday subjects.

Question 4

Can I use filters with the Tamron 17-70mm f2.8?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The lens features a 67mm filter thread and is compatible with standard screw-in filters, including neutral density, polarising, and protective filters. The shared filter size also allows users of multiple Tamron lenses to use a common set of accessories.

Question 5

Accepted Answer

The lens features Moisture-Resistant Construction to help protect internal components during outdoor shooting. A fluorine coating on the front element further improves durability by helping repel water, fingerprints, and dirt, making the lens easier to clean and maintain.
