Sony VG-C6 Vertical Grip

Q: Does the Sony VG-C6 support two batteries simultaneously?

Yes. The VG-C6 holds up to two NP-SA100 batteries, with the camera drawing power from both during operation. This increases operating time compared to using a single battery in the camera body alone, which is particularly useful during long events, sports coverage, or extended video recording sessions.

Q: Are the controls the same as the camera body?

Yes. The grip mirrors the layout of compatible Alpha bodies with duplicated front and rear dials, shutter release, AF-ON, AEL, MOVIE, C2 button, and multi-selector controls. Because the controls sit in the same relative positions as the camera body, switching between horizontal and vertical framing feels much more natural during extended handheld shooting.

Q: Can batteries be charged through the VG-C6?

Yes. Batteries installed inside the grip can be charged through the camera’s USB Type-C connection without removing them from the tray. This keeps the setup simpler when charging between shoots or working from a single USB-C power source. However, simultaneous charging and an external power supply are not supported together.

Q: Does the VG-C6 improve handling and grip?

The deeper grip gives your hand more support when working with larger telephoto or fast-aperture lenses, particularly during portrait-orientation shooting. With the duplicated shutter button and dials positioned vertically, hand and wrist movement feels more balanced during longer handheld sessions.

Q: Is the Sony VG-C6 weather-resistant?

The VG-C6 uses the same dust- and moisture-resistant design approach as compatible Sony Alpha bodies. Sealing around buttons and connection points reduces exposure to light rain and dusty conditions. However, the grip is not guaranteed to be fully dustproof or waterproof.
