Sony RMT-VP2 Wireless Remote Commander

Q: What are the physical dimensions and weight of the RMT-VP2?

The RMT-VP2 measures approximately 98.0 x 32.8 x 12.2 mm, making it compact and easy to carry or store. It weighs just 29.9 g without the battery installed, allowing it to integrate seamlessly with accessories like the GP-VPT3 grip or be used handheld without adding noticeable weight.

Q: What battery does the remote use and how long does it last?

The RMT-VP2 is powered by a single CR2032 lithium coin cell battery, which is included in the box. Battery life depends on frequency of use and Bluetooth connection strength, but the low-power consumption profile of the device ensures extended performance for most typical shooting sessions.

Q: What type of zoom control does the remote support?

The RMT-VP2 features a variable two-step zoom rocker. It supports both Sony power zoom lenses and digital zoom functions when enabled on compatible cameras. The zoom/focus/lock switch allows users to toggle the rocker between zoom control and manual focus adjustments, depending on the selected mode.

Q: How does the remote communicate with the camera and what is its effective range?

The remote connects to cameras via Bluetooth, operating on the 2400 to 2483.5 MHz frequency range. It maintains a stable wireless link with a tested range of approximately 10 m in typical indoor and outdoor environments. The LED indicator confirms when the remote is paired and in active use.
