Question 1

What are the weight and dimensions of the RM-DP5?

Accepted Answer

Without accessories, the RM-DP5 measures approximately 166.8 x 104.7 x 46.9mm and weighs around 671g. With the Control Knob, Blank Focus Ring, and Grip fitted, its dimensions increase to approximately 243.7 x 104.7 x 90mm, and the complete setup weighs around 1,007g. This clearly indicates the additional space and weight required when configuring the monitor with its supplied control accessories.

Question 2

Which Sony cameras can the RM-DP5 control?

Accepted Answer

The RM-DP5 provides remote control for compatible Sony Cinema Line cameras. When connected, it can operate focus, zoom and shooting settings, including FPS, ISO, shutter, ND filter or iris, Look and White Balance. Touch focus and touch tracking can also follow the autofocus settings of a compatible FX camera.

Question 3

Can I use the RM-DP5 without its camera control functions?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The RM-DP5 can operate as an external monitor when you don’t need camera control. Connect a video source through HDMI, and the 5-inch Full HD display provides independent image monitoring. You can also change the screen orientation through the menu to suit how you mount the monitor.

Question 4

Does the RM-DP5 connect wirelessly to the camera on its own?

Accepted Answer

No. Wireless connectivity requires a compatible third-party wireless transmission device. With the appropriate device, the monitor can connect wirelessly to the camera for low-latency lens control, while transmitting video at up to 4K resolution. For wired camera control, Ethernet and USB connections are available.

Question 5

How does the RM-DP5 help with manual focus?

Accepted Answer

The supplied Control knob provides high-resolution physical adjustment for focusing compatible Cinema Line cameras. An edge focus indicator shows lens position without covering the monitored image, while mechanical stops and focus-point markings define positions for repeatable focus pulls. Double-tapping the screen also magnifies the selected area by up to 6x for closer focus checking.

Question 6

What mounting points does the RM-DP5 provide?

Accepted Answer

The aluminium monitor body has one 1/4-20 UNC screw hole on each of its four sides for attaching accessories such as optional transmitters. Four corner strap holes provide additional attachment points, while the supplied external grip provides a secure hold when operating the monitor and Control knob by hand.
