Sony FE 8-14mm f3.5 Fisheye G Lens

Q: How compact is the Sony FE 8-14mm f3.5 Fisheye G Lens?

The Sony FE 8-14mm f3.5 Fisheye G lens weighs approximately 314g and measures 63.1mm in diameter and 82.8mm long. The compact dimensions and lightweight build make it easy to carry alongside other E-mount lenses while reducing the load on camera setups.

Q: What can the Sony FE 8-14mm f3.5 Fisheye G Lens be used for?

The 8-14mm zoom moves from circular fisheye at 8mm to diagonal fisheye at 14mm, with a 180-degree angle of view suited to landscapes, architecture, cities, travel and action subjects such as skateboarding, BMX and snowboarding. For video, fast autofocus tracking and optical suppression of focus breathing enable capture of moving subjects and controlled focus changes. The compact design also suits VR, virtual tours and museum settings.

Q: Does the lens support manual focusing?

Yes. The lens features Linear Response MF, which links focus-ring input directly to manual focus adjustment for predictable control. Its focus mode switch provides AF, MF and FH (Focus Hold) positions directly on the lens.

Q: Can the lens hood be used throughout the 8-14mm zoom range?

No. The specially designed lens hood is intended for diagonal fisheye use and causes vignetting at zoom positions other than diagonal fisheye mode. Its removable construction lets you remove the hood when you need the wider fisheye field. You can also reverse the hood to prevent it from entering the field of view at other zoom positions.

Q: What is the included filter template used for?

The lens has a rear filter holder designed for sheet filters. A cutting template is supplied to help you cut compatible sheet filter material to the shape required for the rear holder. This allows filters to be fitted at the rear of the lens rather than over the front element, which is not compatible with filters.
