Question 1

How quickly does the SmallRig T99 recharge?

Accepted Answer

The T99 supports USB-C PD 3.0 charging at up to 100W and can be fully recharged in approximately two hours when paired with a compatible charger. Either of the two USB-C ports can be used for charging. The integrated OLED display provides a clear view of the remaining charge throughout the process.

Question 2

Can it power multiple devices at the same time?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The battery features one BP port, three D-Tap outputs, two USB-C ports and one USB-A port, allowing several devices to draw power simultaneously from a single source. This reduces the need for multiple batteries across a rig and minimises interruptions caused by battery changes during production.

Question 3

Is the T99 suitable for air travel?

Accepted Answer

Yes. With a capacity of 99Wh, the T99 falls within the limits commonly accepted by airlines for carry-on lithium batteries. It should be transported in hand luggage rather than checked baggage, although individual airline policies may vary. Its relatively compact dimensions of 128.0 x 81.0 x 71.0mm (5.0 x 3.2 x 2.8in) also make it easier to incorporate into a travel kit.

Question 4

How durable is the battery?

Accepted Answer

The T99 V Mount Battery is rated for drops from heights of up to 1.8 metres and is certified to IP54 for dust and splash resistance. The TPU outer covering absorbs impacts, while the internal metal structure maintains rigidity and protects the battery's components. This construction is particularly well-suited to crews working in changing environments where equipment is handled frequently.

Question 5

What does the Battery Management System do?

Accepted Answer

The T99 combines physical durability with electronic safeguards. Internally, a smart BMS (Battery Management System) chip and precision circuitry provide six layers of protection against issues such as overcharging, over-discharging, overcurrent, overheating and short circuits, helping to maintain stable and reliable power delivery. Alongside the physical durability, this helps to protect both the battery itself and the equipment connected to it during demanding production use.
