Shure SM7DB Microphone

Q: How do I get the original SM7B performance using the Shure SM7DB Microphone?

The main difference between the original SM7B and its predecessor is that the SM7dB features a built-in preamp, which preserves the microphone’s frequency response and enables use with any XLR interface. When using the SM7dB, if you do not require the preamp, you can flick the switch to the left to “bypass” and achieve the original, well-loved SM7B performance.

Q: What can the Shure SM7DB Microphone’s built-in preamp do?

The built-in preamp provides a +18dB or +28dB boost of extra gain to ensure you do not need to rely on an audio interface to retain the microphone’s frequency response and can enjoy the same impressive results no matter where you need to record. The preamp requires an interface or mixer with +48V phantom power to operate.

Q: Can I mount the Shure SM7DB Microphone?

Yes, the Shure SM7DB Microphone features yoke mounting with a captive stand nut for easy mounting and dismounting, enabling you to control the position of your microphone.
