Rode Rodecaster Video Core

Q: How many cameras can the Rodecaster Video Core handle at once?

The console can manage up to four simultaneous video sources. Three of these connect through HDMI, while an additional source can be connected via USB using UVC video. It also supports network cameras via NDI over Ethernet, expanding the flexibility for remote or PTZ camera setups.

Q: Can the Rodecaster Video Core work with other Rodecaster devices?

Yes. Using Rodecaster Sync, it can connect to a Rodecaster Pro II or Rodecaster Duo to form a larger integrated production system. This link allows unified control of audio and video, expanding available inputs, outputs and routing options across the setup.

Q: Does the unit support automatic camera switching?

Yes. The console includes intelligent auto-switching that can change scenes or camera angles based on which microphone or audio input is active. This feature is particularly useful for video podcasts and interview formats, where the system can switch speakers automatically without manual operation.

Q: Can I record separate camera feeds for editing later?

Yes. The device supports isolated video recording. Each video input can be saved individually alongside the main program output, allowing editors to adjust camera cuts in post-production.

Q: Do I need a computer to control the Rodecaster Video Core?

The console is designed for software-based operation through the Rodecaster App. The software allows users to build scenes, configure audio processing, assign graphics and manage streaming settings. Once configured, the system can run productions directly from the console without needing a full broadcast workstation.
