Profoto Softbox 1x6 - Silver

Q: What is the difference between a strip softbox and a rectangular softbox?

A strip softbox produces a narrower, longer light source that is useful when lighting full-length portraits, creating edge lighting, or adding controlled reflections to products. The shape keeps light concentrated in one direction while still maintaining a soft transition between highlights and shadows. It is particularly popular in fashion, commercial, and automotive photography.

Q: How does the silver interior affect the light?

The silver lining reflects more of the flash or LED output towards the diffuser. As light bounces around the interior, less energy is absorbed by the fabric, resulting in a brighter output and sharper light than a white-lined softbox. This can be useful when working with larger modifiers or when extra efficiency is needed from the light source.

Q: Can I adjust the softness of the light?

Yes. The removable diffuser changes how the light is distributed at the front of the softbox. With the diffuser fitted, light spreads more evenly across the surface and transitions more gradually across the subject. Removing or changing the diffuser increases brightness and produces a more defined look.

Q: Is the Softbox 1x6 suitable for LED lights as well as flash?

Yes. The heat-resistant construction is compatible with Profoto's range of 100mm flashes and LED lights. This makes it suitable for both still photography and continuous-light video production using the same modifier.

Q: Can I use accessories with the Profoto Softbox 1x6?

Yes. The softbox is compatible with a range of Profoto accessories, giving photographers and filmmakers more control over light spread and direction. Accessories such as grids can narrow the beam and reduce spill, making it easier to shape light precisely within a scene.
