Question 1

How do the Insta360 Mic Pro transmitters’ customisable displays work?

Accepted Answer

Each transmitter has an E-Ink display that can show a logo, a channel graphic, or a simple identifier uploaded through the Insta360 app. Once the image refreshes, it remains visible even when the transmitter is powered off because E-Ink draws power only when the image changes. In direct sunlight, the display stays sharp rather than washing out like a small backlit screen can. On camera, it gives each mic a clearer identity without adding stickers or extra labels.

Question 2

How does the three-mic array affect sound pickup?

Accepted Answer

Each transmitter uses three microphones in a single compact body, so speech does not depend on a single narrow pickup point. When a transmitter turns slightly on clothing, the array still receives sound from multiple angles, keeping voice pickup more consistent. Omnidirectional mode records from around the transmitter, while Voice Focus uses adaptive beamforming to favour speech from the front. Cardioid suits front-facing solo work such as vlogging, livestreaming, ASMR and voiceover, while Figure-8 captures sound from the front and back for close two-person conversations.

Question 3

How do the auto gain and noise-cancelling settings work?

Accepted Answer

Prevent Audio Clipping reacts when the speaker suddenly gets louder, then lowers the level before the recording distorts. Auto Gain Control Dynamic balances smaller volume changes in quieter indoor spaces, so speech remains steadier without constant manual gain changes. NPU noise cancellation reduces background sound at the transmitter before the signal reaches the camera or phone. Standard, Rich and Bright tone presets then shape the voice, moving from natural balance to fuller mid-low weight or clearer high-frequency speech.

Question 4

Can the transmitters record audio internally?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Each transmitter has 32GB of onboard memory, so it can store a local file while also sending audio to the receiver. It records up to 60 hours in 24-bit mono, 29.7 hours in 24-bit stereo, 44.8 hours in 32-bit mono or 22.2 hours in 32-bit stereo. This provides separate audio files on the transmitters if the camera feed is too low, too loud or interrupted. The available recording time changes when you switch bit depth or mono and stereo recording.

Question 5

What is the battery life of the Mic Pro kit elements?

Accepted Answer

Under test conditions, each transmitter runs for up to 10 hours, and the receiver runs for up to 11 hours. The charging case extends total use to 30 hours and can fully charge two transmitters and one receiver approximately two times. A five-minute charge provides around 1.5 hours of use for either the transmitter or the receiver, tested with the battery below 50%. The devices fully charge in ~1 hour, with the transmitter reaching 80% in ~24 minutes and the receiver in ~30 minutes. These figures were measured in close-range, interference-free conditions, so runtime may vary when noise-cancelling or internal recording is active.
