Question 1

How many receivers can one Hollyland Pyro 7 Ultra transmit to?

Accepted Answer

In non-Broadcast mode, one Pyro 7 Ultra transmitter can connect to four receivers and two devices running the HollyView app at the same time. Broadcast Mode increases that to up to 20 receivers for larger monitoring setups. Receivers assigned to the same group as the transmitter connect automatically within that group. HollyView app monitoring is not available while Broadcast Mode is active.

Question 2

How does Focus Mode reduce latency on the Pyro 7 Ultra?

Accepted Answer

Focus Mode reduces wireless transmission delay on the receiving monitor, reaching 20ms with a 1080p30 input in Smooth Mode. Display latency starts at 27ms, so the 20ms figure refers specifically to wireless transmission, not total end-to-end delay. Enabling Focus Mode shortens the response between camera movement and what the focus puller sees, which makes it more useful for precise manual focus work.

Question 3

Can the Pyro 7 Ultra control the camera remotely?

Accepted Answer

Yes, with supported cameras. HDMI carries the video feed while USB carries camera-control data between the camera and the Pyro 7 Ultra. The Camera Control template can adjust settings including ISO, aperture, shutter, white balance, frame rate, focus mode, touch focus, playback and recording. Control can be assigned to either the transmitting or receiving monitor, with one unit operating the camera at a time.

Question 4

Can the Pyro 7 Ultra convert between HDMI and SDI?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The monitor supports HDMI and 3G-SDI cross-output, so an incoming signal can leave through the other connection type. A 1080p60 SDI input can pass through the HDMI output at 1080p60, while a 4K60 HDMI input can feed the SDI output at 1080p60. This removes the need for a separate converter when different monitors on set use different connections.

Question 5

How does colour calibration work on the Pyro 7 Ultra?

Accepted Answer

Every Pyro 7 Ultra receives individual Calman factory calibration to Rec.709, Gamma 2.4 and Delta E below 1.5. The QD-LCD panel covers at least 99% of Rec.709 and at least 95% of DCI-P3, while the 1500-nit display is easier to read in bright ambient light. Compatible Hollyland Colour Calibrators can connect through USB-C and complete a recalibration without a computer in around three minutes. You can also import custom calibration files from third-party devices, with an enabled calibration LUT replacing the factory calibration.

Question 6

What power and recording media does the Pyro 7 Ultra support?

Accepted Answer

The integrated V-mount plate accepts batteries from 12.8 to 16.8V, while the DC input accepts 10 to 28V. Power consumption reaches up to 25W in transmitter mode and 20W in receiver mode, giving roughly four or five hours from a 100Wh V-mount battery, respectively. Video records to an SD card or USB storage, supporting SD cards up to 2 TB. A 4K60 source records at 1080p60, while a 1080p60 input remains at 1080p60 for immediate playback and on-set review.
