What’s new?

The Hollyland Pyro 7 Ultra takes the all-in-one TX, RX, and monitoring concept of the original Pyro 7 and moves it towards larger, more colour-critical productions. Transmission range increases from 400m to 1km, while TWiFi adds 4K60 transmission, Focus Mode latency as low as 20ms at 1080p30, and Broadcast Mode for up to 20 receivers. The new QD-LCD display also adds Calman factory calibration, Delta E below 1.5 and wider Rec.709 and DCI-P3 coverage, giving camera crews, focus pullers, and directors a more accurate screen alongside a stronger wireless system.

Calibrated colour on set

The 7.02-inch QD-LCD panel uses a Quantum Dot Enhancement Film that converts blue LED light into narrow-band red and green light, producing a purer RGB spectrum before the image reaches the screen. Hollyland calibrates each monitor to Calman Rec.709, Gamma 2.4, and Delta E below 1.5, with at least 99% Rec. 709 coverage and at least 95% DCI-P3 coverage. That gives the operator a consistent reference when judging exposure, skin tone, and colour, rather than relying on an uncalibrated display. Brightness reaches 1500 nits, so the image remains easier to read under strong ambient light (with optional sunshades available separately).

Wireless monitoring without separate boxes

The Pyro 7 Ultra can operate as either transmitter or receiver, so the same 7-inch monitor can sit on the camera, at an on-set station, or with the director. Hollyland's TWiFi system works across 2.4GHz and 5GHz, using automatic frequency hopping to avoid congested channels while transmitting video at up to 4K60 over distances up to 1km. In non-Broadcast mode, one transmitter connects with up to four receivers plus two HollyView app devices. Switching to Broadcast Mode changes the link behaviour for larger crews, supporting simultaneous transmission to 20 receivers while disabling app monitoring. The Pyro 7 Ultra also pairs with compatible Pyro transmitters and receivers, so you can combine existing Pyro hardware into a wider wireless monitoring setup without rebuilding the system around a single monitor.

Focus pulling and camera control

Focus Mode operates on the receiving Pyro 7 Ultra and cuts wireless transmission delay, with latency reaching 20ms from a 1080p30 input in Smooth Mode. That shorter delay keeps focus changes closer to what is happening at the camera, which matters when a focus puller is reacting to moving subjects. Camera controls travel over USB while HDMI carries the video feed, letting either the transmitting or receiving monitor adjust settings such as focus mode, frame rate, touch focus, recording, ISO, aperture, shutter and white balance, with control assigned to one unit at a time. The Pyro 7 Ultra also connects with the Tilta follow-focus ecosystem, bringing lens-control functions onto the monitor alongside camera control and focus monitoring.

Monitoring controls and signal routing

HollyOS organises monitoring functions into templates that can be switched with left and right swipes, rather than opening several menu layers. Four templates arrive as Custom, Exposure, Focus and Composition, with support for up to seven in total, while waveform, histogram, zebras, false colour, LUTs, anamorphic viewing, safety frames, grids and focus peaking can be added where required. Two-finger zoom magnifies the picture continuously from 1x to 4x, which makes fine focus or frame-edge checks quicker on the touchscreen. HDMI and 3G-SDI inputs and outputs also support cross-output, so an SDI camera feed can pass to an HDMI display, while a 4K60 HDMI input can feed a 1080p60 SDI output without adding a separate converter.

Power, recording and Pyro integration

The integrated V-mount plate accepts 12.8 to 16.8V batteries, while the DC input supports 10 to 28V for mains or external power setups. Power consumption reaches up to 25W in transmitter mode and 20W in receiver mode, giving roughly four hours of TX use or five hours of RX use from a 100Wh V-mount battery. Footage records to an SD card or USB storage for immediate playback. It records 4K60 input at 1080p60, with SD cards supported up to 2TB.
