GoPro Protective Housing - MISSION 1 SERIES

Q: Does the housing affect touchscreen access?

No. The housing still allows access to the camera's touchscreen, so you can change settings, switch modes, or review footage without removing the camera from the case. This becomes especially useful during diving prep or fast-moving shoots, where repeatedly opening the housing would slow things down and increase the risk of water or debris reaching the camera body.

Q: Why does the housing use a flat glass front instead of a curved design?

Flat glass keeps underwater footage sharper by controlling light refraction more evenly once submerged. Curved surfaces can soften detail or distort edges underwater, particularly in wider shots. The flat front also maintains image quality above the surface, so you do not need to swap housings between land and underwater shooting.

Q: What is the Skeleton Backdoor for?

The Skeleton Backdoor works better for above-water filming where audio matters more than waterproof sealing. Its open rear design lets more sound reach the microphones and makes the touchscreen easier to access during handheld shooting or quick setting changes. For diving or wet conditions, the sealed waterproof backdoor should always be fitted to protect the camera properly.

Q: Can the housing mount vertically without extra accessories?

Yes. The built-in dual mounting fingers support both horizontal and vertical mounting directly from the housing, so you can switch framing orientations without adding another bracket or adapter. This makes it quicker to move from standard widescreen filming to vertical social clips while keeping the camera mounted on the same support or handle.
