Question 1

Where does the X-T50 sit in Fujifilm’s line-up?

Accepted Answer

Fujifilm has announced the X-T50 as the latest addition to its line of entry-level cameras. It replaces the X-T30 II and bridges the gap between the beginner and the enthusiast. With the X-T50, users can access the same image quality and processing speeds found on the renowned X-T5 model, blending flagship Fujifilm technology with a compact form factor and slightly lower price tag.

Question 2

How does the X-T50 differ from the X-T5?

Accepted Answer

Whilst the X-T50 is closer to Fujifilm’s high-end models, some features differ. The X-T50 has a 2.36M-dot OLED electronic viewfinder and a 3.0-inch 1.62M-dot 2-way tilting touch LCD screen, whereas the X-T5 benefits from a 3.69M-dot OLED electronic viewfinder and a 3.0-inch 1.84M-dot 3-way tilting touch LCD screen. The X-T5 also offers 15fps continuous shooting and a 1/8000 shutter speed with a mechanical shutter instead of the 8fps continuous shooting and a 1/4000 shutter speed on the X-T50. Finally, the X-T5 remains a compelling choice for professionals with a dual USH-SD II card slot, a weather-resistant build and longer battery life.

Question 3

How compact is the X-T50?

Accepted Answer

As part of the Fujifilm X series, the X-T50 is inherently compact and lightweight by design. The body measures 123.8 (W) x 84 (H) x 48.8 (D) mm and weighs only 438g with the battery and SD card inserted. Without an SD card and battery, the X-T50 weighs only 389g. Its innovative build ensures photographers enjoy outstanding image quality while maximising portability for everyday adventures and travel.

Question 4

How good is the battery life on the X-T50?

Accepted Answer

The X-T50 uses the high-performance NP-W126S Li-ion battery. In economy mode, users can capture up to 390 frames on a single charge. This battery life is excellent for casual shooting and travel photography, but purchasing a spare for more demanding shoots over extended periods would be wise.

Question 5

Can I use teleconverters on the X-T50?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The X-T50 is compatible with 1.4x and 2x digital teleconverters. These teleconverters extend focal reach while maintaining exceptional clarity and consistent autofocus performance. This compatibility is an excellent feature for photographers wanting to capture distant subjects or achieve greater magnification.

Question 6

What can I do with the Fujifilm X App?

Accepted Answer

Fujifilm X App connectivity lets you quickly and easily transfer images from your X-T50 to your smartphone. The app also lets you control your camera remotely, so you can adjust settings or trigger the shutter release without touching the camera body. This is especially useful for group shots or to avoid vibrations when pressing the shutter.

Question 7

What is the difference between the 18-55mm and the 16-50mm?

Accepted Answer

Following feedback from 18-55mm users, Fujifilm awarded the 16-50mm lens an internal zoom construction, a weather-resistant design, and a lighter build (240g instead of 310g). These upgrades make the 16-50mm a more versatile lens for diverse shooting scenarios, particularly for gimbal users needing a consistent centre of gravity.
