Question 1

Which phones are compatible with the DJI Osmo Mobile 8P?

Accepted Answer

The DJI Osmo Mobile 8P fits phones weighing 170 to 300 g, with a width of 67 to 84 mm and a thickness of 6.9 to 11 mm. That thickness includes the case, so a slim case can stay fitted if the combined size remains within the stated range. Large camera modules, heavy cases or add-on lenses can shift the balance, so the magnetic clamp should sit close to the centre of the phone before mounting. DJI recommends checking the official smartphone compatibility list for app and feature support.

Question 2

How does the DJI Mic Mini 2 improve audio for mobile filming?

Accepted Answer

The DJI Osmo Mobile 8P Creator Combo includes a DJI Mic Series Mobile Receiver and DJI Mic Mini 2 Transmitter, plus accessories. The transmitter sits close to the speaker, so speech reaches the microphone before it mixes heavily with room sound or drops in level because of distance from the phone. Automatic limiting reduces the chance of sudden louder words clipping, while dual-track recording keeps a lower-level safety track. The windscreen fits over the transmitter to reduce air movement across the microphone when recording outdoors.

Question 3

What feature does the DJI OM Multifunctional Module 2 add?

Accepted Answer

The DJI OM Multifunctional Module 2 adds smart tracking and a built-in fill light to the DJI Osmo Mobile 8P. It can track people, cats, dogs, vehicles and selected objects, then send that live module view to Osmo FrameTap for remote tap-to-track control. The fill light offers eight brightness levels and eight colour temperature settings, so you can adjust it directly from the remote when filming close to the phone. It also supports front-camera and rear-camera tracking by detaching, flipping and reattaching the module.

Question 4

What does the Osmo FrameTap do?

Accepted Answer

The Osmo FrameTap is the detachable touchscreen remote included with this kit. Attached to the handle, it provides a screen, joystick, and shutter button for normal handheld control. Detached from the handle, it can mirror your phone screen up to 25m away, so you can stand in front of the camera and still check framing. With the DJI OM Multifunctional Module 2 fitted, it can also show the module’s live feed and start tracking by tapping a detection box on the remote screen.

Question 5

Can I use an Apple Watch with the DJI Osmo Mobile 8P?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The DJI Mimo app supports live preview and control on compatible Apple Watch models, providing access to photo capture, video recording, a virtual gimbal joystick, ActiveTrack, portrait-to-landscape switching, and recentring. In an open, unobstructed area, the remote control and video transmission distance is generally within 8m. The watch preview is for framing rather than final image quality, so the live view can look different from the phone camera feed. The recorded photo or video still comes from the phone itself.

Question 6

Is the DJI Osmo Mobile 8P waterproof?

Accepted Answer

No. The DJI Osmo Mobile 8P and Osmo FrameTap are not waterproof. Rain, spray and wet surfaces should be avoided because moisture can reach the motors, contacts, touchscreen or USB-C ports. The built-in tripod works on stable, level surfaces in windless conditions. For uneven ground, the 1/4″-20 UNC port on the bottom of the handle can connect the gimbal to a compatible tripod.
