Question 1

Can the Canon Speedlite EL-1 be used with other Canon Speedlites for wireless control?

Accepted Answer

The Canon Speedlite EL-1 supports wireless flash control both optically and via radio transmission. You can use multiple Speedlites together, with up to 15 transmitters and 15 receivers, allowing you to control lighting setups across five different groups (A/B/C/D/E). This feature is ideal for professional photographers who require intricate lighting arrangements for events or studio shoots.

Question 2

Can I adjust the angle of the Canon Speedlite EL-1 Flashgun?

Accepted Answer

The Canon Speedlite EL-1 offers impressive flexibility with its flash head, which can tilt upwards by 45°, 60°, 75°, 90°, and even 120°, and down by 7°. It can also swivel left and right, offering 60°, 75°, 90°, 120°, 150°, and 180° movements. With this level of adjustment available, you can direct the light exactly where it’s needed, whether you’re bouncing light off a ceiling or illuminating a subject at a creative angle.

Question 3

What is Flash Exposure Memory on the Canon Speedlite EL-1, and how does it work?

Accepted Answer

Flash Exposure Memory (FE Memory) on the Canon Speedlite EL-1 allows you to lock in the flash power settings used in E-TTL auto mode and apply them manually. After capturing a shot with E-TTL exposure, you can switch to manual mode, and the flash will retain the exposure settings, ensuring consistency in lighting even when there are slight changes in ambient light or subject position. This allows you to maintain uniform exposure across multiple shots in a series.

Question 4

Alongside the battery and required charger, it comes with a case for protection during storage or transport, a mini stand for resting the flashgun on flat surfaces, a bounce adapter for soft, diffused lighting effects, and two colour filters.
