Canon EOS R8 Mark II with LP-E17 Battery

Q: What battery does the Canon EOS R8 Mark II use?

The EOS R8 Mark II uses the rechargeable Canon LP-E17 Li-ion battery. In power-saving mode, the supplied battery provides approximately 340 shots using the LCD or 220 shots using the electronic viewfinder at 23°C. The USB-C connection supports charging and external power, compatible with Canon PD-E1 and PD-E2 USB power adapters.

Q: What memory cards does the EOS R8 Mark II support?

The EOS R8 Mark II has a single card slot that supports SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards, including UHS-II and UHS-I media. Canon recommends high-speed UHS-II SDXC cards for 4K recording and high-speed continuous shooting, where sustained write performance affects recording and buffer clearance.

Q: How compact is the EOS R8 Mark II?

The EOS R8 Mark II measures approximately 131.4 x 90.0 x 79.7mm and weighs approximately 499g body only. With a battery and memory card fitted, it weighs about 546g. The body primarily uses magnesium alloy, with sections of aluminium alloy and polycarbonate resin reinforced with glass fibre. This construction keeps the full-frame body relatively compact while accommodating sensor-shift image stabilisation and the revised control layout.

Q: Can the Canon EOS R8 Mark II be used as a webcam?

Yes. The EOS R8 Mark II supports UVC/UAC video calls and streaming through its USB-C connection, with output available at up to 4K 60p. The SuperSpeed Plus USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface also supports computer communication, image transfer, USB charging and external power with a compatible USB power adapter.

Q: What lenses are compatible with the Canon EOS R8 Mark II?

The EOS R8 Mark II uses Canon’s RF mount and is directly compatible with RF lenses. RF-S lenses can also be used, with the camera operating from a cropped area of its full-frame sensor. Canon EF and EF-S lenses can be fitted using a compatible Canon EF-EOS R mount adapter. Adapted EF-S lenses also use the cropped imaging area.
