Question 1

Can this camera be used for stills?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Although the EOS R6 V is designed primarily around video operation, the 32.5MP full-frame sensor supports high-resolution still image capture at up to 40fps using the electronic shutter. Pre-continuous shooting also buffers frames before the shutter is fully pressed, improving timing accuracy during fast movement. These features support thumbnail creation, promotional assets and supporting photography without requiring a separate camera body.

Question 2

How much does the EOS R6 V weigh?

Accepted Answer

The EOS R6 V weighs approximately 598g for the body alone and around 688g when fitted with a battery and CFexpress card. This relatively compact weight helps maintain comfortable handheld operation during longer recording sessions while keeping the camera suitable for lightweight gimbals, travel rigs and solo production setups. Combined with the ergonomic grip and in-body stabilisation system, the camera maintains balanced handling without requiring a larger cinema-style body.

Question 3

Can the EOS R6 V record for extended periods?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The EOS R6 V uses an active cooling system to maintain stable operation during high-resolution recording. It supports recording for up to 6 hours at frame rates below 100fps, or up to 2 hours at 100fps or higher, making it suitable for long-form video production and livestreaming.

Question 4

Does the EOS R6 V support USB streaming?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The EOS R6 V supports UVC/UAC streaming up to 4K 60p through USB-C, allowing direct connection to a computer without requiring a separate capture device. This reduces setup complexity for livestreaming, remote presentations and online production workflows. Wired streaming also maintains image quality without relying on a wireless network.

Question 5

Can the EOS R6 V record 4-channel audio?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Multi-function Shoe supports compatible Canon digital audio accessories capable of recording up to four audio channels directly in-camera. This allows multiple microphones or mixed audio sources to be captured without requiring a separate external recorder, simplifying compact production setups.

Question 6

Can I connect microphones or headphones to the EOS R6 V?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The camera includes 3.5mm microphone and headphone ports for external audio recording and monitoring. Combined with Multi-function Shoe audio accessories, the EOS R6 V supports a flexible audio workflow suitable for interviews, livestreams and compact production setups.
